Forum Removed

30th November 2011

I am sorry to announce that the Keisha Web forum has been removed by the hosts, without notice. They say it is due to inactivity for 90 days, but I'm almost certain that is not the case, as I logged in and posted not long ago.

This unfortunately means we have lost the Gallery section, and it also means that links to images further down the News page will not work.

I am not really sure where else to host images in a Gallery, so if anyone can help, please can you drop me an e-mail at keishaweb@gmail.com? Thanks.

Hopefield Animal Sanctuary Fundraiser

30th November 2011

Leona Lewis invited fellow British singers Pixie Lott and Keisha Buchanan to a special Christmas fair over the weekend (26-27Nov11) to raise funds for an animal sanctuary in the U.K.

The Bleeding Love hitmaker, who is an avid animal lover, completed a sponsored walk in October (11) in aid of the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Essex, England, and she also hosted a star-studded fundraiser in California earlier this month (Nov11) for the charity.

Lewis pulled in more celebrity friends to help by bringing them along to a Christmas fair held at the animal sanctuary on Sunday (27Nov11).

The singer flew in from Los Angeles for the event, which saw Lott and Buchanan pose for pictures with horses at the facility, which faces an uncertain future following the death of owner Ernie Clark last year (10).

Former Sugababes star Buchanan also sang at the event and wowed Lewis with her vocals.

In a post on Twitter.com after the fair, Lewis wrote, "Keisha Buchanan absolutely killed it! Her voice is stunning! I'm excited to hear her new music, she sang with just guitar and blew us away... thank u (sic) so much for performing at Hopefield Essex... your (sic) an angel."

The centre, which houses around 200 animals, needs to raise $1.6 million (£1 million) to secure its future.

Keisha Buchanan's Back

21st July 2011

SEXY ex-Sugababe Keisha Buchanan has reinvented herself as a Brit rival to Rihanna.

Since breaking from the girl group in 2009, the 26-year-old has been beavering away on a solo album.

And at an intimate gig in London's Jacques Townhouse on Monday, she showed it's going to be well worth the wait.

I always thought Keisha had a killer voice, and she proved she means business.

Showing she'd lost none of her sass, she joked and chatted with the audience before debuting Beautiful Mess ñ a grown-up, catchy acoustic number with poignant lyrics ñ a slowie called Fearless and a gorgeous mid-tempo called Carried Away.

A confident rendition of Adele's Rolling In The Deep came before a trip down memory lane with Push The Button and Overload and then a mash-up of Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and BeyoncÈ's Run The World (Girls).

Talking to me afterwards, Keisha confessed: "My mum started crying before I came off stage and totally started me while I was still up there ñ I feel emotional.

"I was sh*tting it and got the words of Rolling In The Deep wrong at the end as I was so nervous.

"But I asked loads of fans from Twitter down so they were all screaming. It gave me a real confidence boost."

Keisha denied Carried Away is about her split from the Babes, despite it including a line about being "better on your own".

She insisted: "It was about an ex, a relationship that had run its course.

"I've forgiven Amelle and Heidi and it's all OK, plus I saw Mutya and Siobhan last year and we're friends."

Oozing happy vibes, Keisha revealed she's backing Katy B, 22, to win the Mercury Prize. She added: "Her album sounds like early Sugababes."

Ex-Sugababe Keisha Buchanan readies 'fresh' solo album

21st July 2011

Ex-Sugababe Keisha Buchanan has told Newsbeat she's in the studio working on a "fresh" solo album.

The 26-year-old singer revealed she is working with US producer Dallas Austin, who has made music with Michael Jackson and Madonna, among others.

"I think there is no particular musical direction, it's just a vibe," she said.

Keisha left The Sugababes in 2009 but said she "never planned to be solo" and that she "can't talk about" the reasons for the split. 'International sound'

"Legally I can't go into too much detail... I've got no hard feelings towards anyone and I understand that life has to go on."

She admitted to feeling "down" in the months after her time in the band ended.

"I felt really confused, I think a lot of people were confused.

"They weren't the only ones 'cos it was a shock to me to hear some of the things that were put out there," she added.

As she continues to work on her solo album, she said she had made a point of taking some time off before making her comeback.

"I know a lot of the times when someone leaves a group they rush into it.

"That was the last thing on my mind," she added.

"So this year I've been making sure that I don't rush it, making sure that the image was right and just doing music that I love to do.

"I think that's where it starts, you need to really love the music that you do," she said.

She went on to reveal that her debut album would be mostly produced by Future Cut, who have made tracks for Lily Allen, Shakira, and Professor Green.

She also said that she had co-written songs with Cathy Dennis, who wrote Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out Of My Head and Britney Spears' Toxic.

"It's an international sound but not necessarily pop music or R&B music," she said.

And she added that there was no fixed date for the new material.

"Every time we lock down there's always someone else who wants to work with me.

"I haven't exactly got a set date - the most important thing to me is to make sure that the album is fire," she said.

Keisha Buchanan Live Review

20th July 2011

London's Jacques Townhouse | 19.07.2011

Former Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan launched her solo career at the ultra trendy Jacques Townhouse last night, performing tracks from her debut LP.

The singer, who was controversially kicked out of her own group in 2009, has kept a relatively low profile since then, but in her own words, is "better not bitter'"

She wasn't wrong, as vocally Keisha is Stronger than ever before. In front of a celeb filled crowd, Buchanan delivered three brand new tracks - Fearless, Carried Sway and Beautiful Mess - from her upcoming album, which is out later this year.

Her foray into solo stardom was met with a positive response as it's no easy feat performing Adele's Rolling In The Deep, but Keisha pulled it off with the right amount of soul, passion and conviction.

Other highlights were a Sugababes medley of fan favourites, including Overload and Push The Button, which reminded us exactly why Sugababes 4.0 just aren't quite the original Sugababes.

The night also included a mash up of Cyndi Laupers' Girls Just Wanna Have Fun with BeyoncÈ's Run The World - where Keisha cheekily replaced a Queen B lyric with, wait for it... "none of these 'babes' can fade me", proving she's still as sassy as ever.

Keisha Buchanan getting cooking lessons

16th July 2011

Former Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan is taking cooking tips from The Saturdays singer Rochelle Wiseman.

Keisha Buchanan is taking cooking lessons from Rochelle Wiseman.

The 26-year-old star is obsessed with eating Thai curries but has never made one herself, although she hopes to soon be able to master it for herself thanks to the culinary talents of the 22-year-old Saturdays singer.

She said: "I'm so into Thai curries! I've not attempted to cook one myself yet, but I'm about to get a recipe from Rochelle Wiseman from The Saturdays.

"She was cooking one the other day when I was around, but it looks so difficult! I'm going to give it a go though."

Cooking is not the only thing Keisha is hoping to get some lessons in - she also plans to learn how to play tennis.

She explained: "I'm not very good at it and I don't stick to all the rules, but tennis is great because you're interacting with your friends.

"I've only just started getting into it, but I'm already addicted. I might need some lessons though, as I'm competitive when it comes to sports - especially when I'm playing against boys."

Fabulous Magazine Interview

9th July 2011

The song that makes me cry

"Eric Clapton's Tears In Heaven is the biggest tear jerker ever. It was written about his son who passed away. It's so emotive."

My earliest childhood memory

"There was a poster of Michael Jackson on the wall at my nursery that I'd gaze up at. My mum let me wear white ankle socks just like his, and I'd go up to the poster and show him!"

The time in my life I was happiest

"I'm at my best when everybody around me is happy. Also, performing at Glastonbury in 2003 was great - we were the first ever girl band to play the main stage, so I felt honoured to be there."

My latest splurge

"I bought some really cool YSL shoes recently. They're ridiculously high blue heels with a platform, but they're strangely comfy!"

My comfort food

"I love anything sweet - but my weakness is waffles and ice cream, and I also love custard - especially Ambrosia!"

My favourite scent

"Dior Addict (£59.50 for 50ml) is my fave. It's an evening scent for me - it's really sexy and flirty. Plus it lasts for ages, which is a bonus!"

My most fabulous outfit

"Last year, I wore an incredible Dolce & Gabbana dress to a party in honour of Naomi Campbell, to celebrate her 25 years in fashion [left]. I teamed it with a heart-shaped clutch bag and killer heels. The dress has a black bustier with a red and black leopard-print skirt - it looked amazing!"

The part of my body I'm proudest of and why

"My skin is my best feature - I don't smoke and I try not to drink too much. I'm also obsessed with drinking lots of water. That's my most important skincare tip!"

Keisha is ambassador of the Jacques Townhouse - the ultimate girlie haven this summer, in London July 19-28, and Liverpool August 10-19. Visit Jacquescider.co.uk/townhouse to book your free place.
